Become a Teacher

Become a Substitute Teacher

If you want to become a substitute teacher, there are a few things to consider. First of all, many individuals begin as substitute teachers in an effort to become a full time employee of the school or district. This pathway has multiple benefits because it allows each side to evaluate the other. In a sense, this is a rehearsal for the teaching job, or an audition if you will.

Being a substitute teacher is not without its challenges, however. You're probably close enough to your school years to remember that many substitutes face an uphill battle in the class room. This is not to dissuade you, only to point out that not all teachers and teaching jobs are alike. On the plus side, requirements for substitute teachers are generally less stringent than their full time counterparts, meaning you can find employment more easily.
