Become a History Teacher
For those who wish to become a history teacher, there are a few paths to this job. The most traditional means is likely to involve attending a four year college or university and majoring in a subject related to history. This could include ethnic studies, anthropology, or specific histories such as American, European, or African American history just to name a few.
With degree in hand, the next step toward becoming a history teacher can take a couple of different forms. Depending on what level of schooling you wish to teach, you may be best served by advancing to get a masters or even doctorate degree in History. Otherwise, the alternative path is to finish up your university learning and work towards accreditation. Becoming a certified teacher within the state you wish to find a job ensures that you will be one of the more attractive new history teacher hires.
